Person Centred Approach
Imcot works with individuals, groups and
organisations in a way, which respects and values the
individual, their attributes, skills and the experience, which
they bring to the work they undertake.
Imcot engages with the individual, the team and the organisation helping
them to:
-
recognise their positive contribution which they already make to the
success of their organisations
-
identify the issues which they need to address
-
formulate their objectives;
-
identify their goals
-
achieve their goals by a programme of learning, facilitation and change
management
Our approach is based on Adult Learning Theory
(Knowles) where “We recognise the experience, which adults bring to
education and their sense of being responsible for their own development,
influenced by their recognition of gaps, which it is in their interest to
fill. We recognise also that adults are not subject-centred in their
orientation to learning, but are centred on real life tasks or problems.
The motivation of adults to learn is strengthened not only by external
factors, but most potently, by internal ones, such as increased job
satisfaction, self esteem and identity-factors, which improve the quality
of their lives in every way.” |
